046: Testing Grounds ☢️

This one was fun and relatively straightforward, despite me recovering from hand surgery. It helps I have a good visual vocabulary for mushroom clouds. I don’t think I really pushed it as far as I could have, but it still turned out more ‘fallout’ than ‘tree’. I never noticed how trees and mushroom clouds are visually similar until now.
I purposely brought in a previously used background for a second attempt. Not sure I like this one better, but it’s good to just try. I’m getting better at my backgrounds the more I draw. Sometimes I feel like I should have worked out all these visual consistency things beforehand, but I have to remind myself this isn’t a product launch for Coca-cola, it’s just a comic.
