058: Art Attack

So. Much. Text. There’s definitely a lot of comedic value in the contrast of lots of text to almost no text. I had a different punchline originally, basically him saying “I don’t get art” after all that insightful critiquing. Funny, right? Meh? Yeah. This retort is more “Roy”, which is cool because it means I’m starting to understand their voices better.
I absolutely used ChatGPT to help me write the critiques. I used a few different prompts and ended up mashing together several responses to create this…thing. I could have written pages and pages, but I hope the joke comes across with this amount of text. It’s the most text in a comic to date! 143 words and almost 900 characters! Thanks to ‘juxtaposition’ for being an awesome word but also super long!
I have been doing the lettering by hand because I like the small variations between letters, and I can’t seem to accomplish that any other way. Yes, I know how to make a font. What I can’t do is something called “alternate glyphs” in Adobe Illustrator on the iPad. You can do it in the full MacOS version, but not the iPadOS version. Lame. So I’ll just keep hand-lettering until my other four fingers stop working! (Disability humour ok?)
