066: Outlet Wall

March 11, 2024

The comic itself took 11 hours, which isn’t a record but it’s definitely one of the longest. On top of that there was several hours of research and sketching of plants and walls. I think it turned out! I’m not sure if the comic should be continually improving, or just refine the comic as it was originally styled.

Some good advancements here – the plants are more than the simple 3-stroke ‘grass’ things I have been doing. I think it really gives you much more ‘jungle’. I like getting to do over-emotional goose expressions (note to do some research into Daffy and Donald). The wall pattern is not just a standard “brick”! Actually got the idea from a tile pattern I saw on a walk.

I would like to eventually do a more “comic book” style, with crazy perspective, shading and layout. So in service of leading up to that, it would make sense to try to push myself every chance I get. It means each comic takes just a little longer, but the improvement is worth it. I hope to look back on comic 366 and see how crazy improved it is. I hope to have a comic 366!

Don’t stop. Improvin’!
