073: Mistaken Identi-tree

After nearly two years, the ensemble is complete!
And it’s a…girl? Let’s discover the reasons:
- I want to practice male and female figures, hands and feet
- I’ve been drawing ‘anime girls’ since they were ‘Japanimation girls’
- I want to have at least one female voice in the cast
- I think it makes for some interesting dynamics.
I’ve been sketching and iterating on this character for the entire time. I knew she would be the most complicated character of the four, and it needed to work with the world. I originally thought she might be some kind of fox girl…or deer? Somehow I settled on ‘wood nymph’.
The first true character designs lacked a good silhouette. I tried to steer away from a voluptuous figure, and of course I hated it. I revised until I had a much more curvy hourglass shape. The “dress” is just leaves and moss and some vine accents. I went back and forth on the additional vines but I think they’re going to add emotion and comedy to the character. She’s going to be very dry/sarcastic, wise, and socially ignorant.
And that’s the cast! For now!
