012: Simplifying Philosophies

My wife helped me with the pacing of this one. I like having the explanation before the actual visual gag much better than the way I had it (1-2-4-3, originally). Hits much better. I wanted a joke I could repeat with minimal changes, in case I needed a quick win. Second attempt at jungle background. Meh.

This is the first comic that features a purposeful “printing error”. I make the colour plate (the salmon) ever so slightly off right at the end of production. This creates those weird gaps and overlaps that are the hallmark of cheap, mass-published newsprint. Occasionally one of the colour plates will “slip” on the machine, and you get this signature printing error. I don’t do it every time, but it’s in there going forward.
