011: The Secret of Happiness

Still playing with setting/backgrounds a bit. I wanted four or five regular backdrops to use and just alternate for variety. I really like giving the robot as expressive a face as possible, given his ‘pixel-based’ monitor.

This comic is a good example of the “A-B-B-A” or even “A-B-C-A” method of colouring the panels. Having panels two and three be visually different while the first and last panels stay the same. I find it just creates some cool visual interest and rhythm. It also keeps me from just drawing the same basic scene four times in a single comic!

Boredom and tedium is the enemy of creativity. Mix it up!
