016: Essays Part II

I always love a running gag. I think this one is more like a leisurely strolling chuckle. That’s kind of the bar we go for around here. Definitely nice to be able to take 15–20 minutes instead of the usual! I definitely feel like I’ve taken the art style to its natural conclusion, so now it’s a matter of coming up with better/faster ways to work.

I decided I didn’t like this particular “jungle background” execution, but I’ve kept using it. It helps to mix up the backgrounds and force me to draw something that’s not in my visual vocabulary.

Keep doing it over and over again, and you’ll get better at it.
