061: Failure to launch

Another comic just five days later? What is this magic??? Truth be told I was motivated by the joke, and de-motivated by all my other personal and professional responsibilities. This entire comic is made with stolen time, but it needs to be done. Clocked in just under 8 hours, which is the high side of average for me now. Considering the detailed background and pose changes, I’m surprised it wasn’t 10!
I like the multiple layers and quips going on here. It’s not just the delivery of the main pun, but I get a little characterization (Kevin is a cranky jerk, and doesn’t seem to want to fly…), and a nice reaction panel, giving more character flavour whenever possible. I think maybe it’s good world-building, plus I like the extra jokes going on, like Roy’s anticipation and reaction to what must be the zillionth pun thrown around the island.
